Tempered glass is to glass what Superman is to Clark Kent: 4 times stronger than the rest. It is heat-treated, so it is much less apt to break. And even then, it breaks into small harmless pieces, not into sharp edges. Ideal in the shower, on balcony railings, and entry doors where security is huge. There are layers to this one- literally. A sandwich process is used to manufacture Laminated glass, as a plastic sheet is sandwiched between two glass layers.
